Hygrophorus marginatus var. marginatus Cap 1-5cm across, conical to bell-shaped; bright yellow-orange to orange; smooth, moist. Gills adnate, widely spaced, thick; brilliant almost fluorescent orange, particularly on their edges. Stem 40-100 x 3-l0mm; pale orange-yellow; smooth. Flesh brittle; orange. Odor pleasant. Taste pleasant. Spores 7-10 x 4-6µ. Deposit white. Habitat on soil and leaf litter. Common. Found in northwestern and eastern North America. Season June-October. Edible but not worthwhile.
